Therapeutic Day Treatment

Day treatment specialists provide intensive therapeutic interventions with individualized clinical programming to serve students with mental, behavioral, and/or emotional needs. These services aid the student in developing the coping skills necessary to sustain the academic process. Day Treatment services at Oyster Point Academy utilize a variety of different treatment modalities and interventions. Group and individual interventions are provided on a daily basis, with anger management, coping skill development, as well as social skill building. Journaling and visual journaling is also utilized as a method of self expression.

Day Treatment has a summer program from June to August, providing therapeutic support in building interpersonal social skills and community based social skills.

Meet our Therapeutic Day Treatment Specialists

Kevin Bosin

Day Treatment Supervisor

My passion for working with youth developed somewhat organically when I was at the tail end of being a troubled adolescent at the end of a long and tumultuous struggle with school. One day I was given an opportunity to work with “at risk” children in a self-contained school when I was still a teenager, and instantaneously I struck with knowing that this was what I wanted to do with my life. I have been working with children and adolescents ever since that time and it has been for more than 25 years. For the majority of that time, I have worked in a school setting with children ranging in age from early elementary all the up through adolescence. I eventually went to school to get my bachelors in Human Services from Old Dominion University and master’s degree in Social Work form the University of New England. Now I am honored to be a part of the OPA family and to work with the students and their families here!

My name is Anna Pagtalunan and I am a graduate of Old Dominion University, where I received my Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Counseling. I also attended Eastern Virginia Medical School’s Art Therapy Master’s program for a year. I have 18 years worth of experience working with children ages 4-17, as well as young adults up to the age of 21 years old. I have worked with at risk youth for 14 ½ years, both in juvenile detention and in a residential treatment facility. I joined the Day Treatment team at Oyster Point Academy in April of 2010, and I enjoy working with all the children that attend the school.
